A conman whose lavish spending plunged his business into bankruptcy and put employees out of work was jailed today.
Greedy company boss Alan Wilson had bought a luxury yacht, a villa in one of Spain's smartest resorts and ‘his and hers’ Mercedes cars for himself and his wife before police closed in.
But when his trailer firm went into administration owing £1.5m and putting nine people out of work, investigations revealed Wilson had been illegally milking his suppliers to keep up his pretence as an international tycoon.
Accountants discovered he had pocketed at least £750,000 by illegally selling off equipment he was leasing from other firms using fake invoices.
Police were called in to discover Wilson's 47-foot yacht worth £490,000 was moored in the millionaire's resort of Puerto Banus in Marbella where his villa was worth £850,000.
Back in the UK, Wilson had a picturesque five-bedroomed detached rural house next door to a golf club in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire.
